Exercise Sucks! But Do It Anyway

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Welcome, Motivation, Exercise with 129 words and 433 views

I loathe exercise and all the sweating and heavy breathing that goes along with it, but I do love the results.

You don't have to workout for 5-6 hours a day like they do on The Biggest Loser to see results. Just 7-30 minutes a day is plenty.

3 Days a week of cardio, 3 days of resistance/weight training and 1 day of rest.

Here's a tip that works when you find yourself making excuses about exercise: Just start out with the 7 minute minimum and every minute you go past that up until 30 will be an added bonus. Trust me it worls because you know you can stop anytime after the 7 minutes are up.

You'll feel better and your heart and muscles will thank you. Plus you will increase your stamina and endurance.

Warning! The Butter in Your Favorite Restaurant May Not Be Real Butter

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Welcome, News, Low Carb Eating with 173 words and 454 views

Careful when you ask your server for extra butter with your next meal, you may not get what you bargained for. It seems that a lot of restaurants are using margarine instead of real butter. This is because margarine is cheaper than butter and truth be told most people can’t tell the difference. Be warned Red Lobster is no longer serving real butter!

I used to buy country crock and used that as my sole source of butter and fat for many years. I had no idea that margarine is made from plastics and are loaded with trans-fat.

Don’t be afraid of butter. It is a perfect food and goes great on top of a nice fatty ribeye.

If you are looking for a butter friendly restaurant try Cracker Barrel they are proud of the fact that they serve real butter and also boast a low carb menu (although you may have to tweak it a bit as they serve toast).

Let me know about any more butter friendly restaurants.

Weigh in Results for Week One

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Welcome, My Weight Loss with 160 words and 276 views

May 17, 2009

Yesterday was the end of week one in the Summer Weight Loss Boot Camp. I am pleased to report that I am down 1 pound. After having been stalled for the past 5 weeks or so I'll gladly take it.

What have I been doing differently? I started counting calories. Yes the dreaded chore that many people trying to lose weight have to do. Unfortunately with my lean body mass and fat ratio I cannot eat 2,000 calories a day and lose weight. I can maintain on this, but I must eat under 1400 calories to lose.

Exercise is pretty much the same: 3 days of weight training which is just pushups, squats and lunges (along with 15 minutes of cardio) as I don't have a gym membership and don't want one. Plus 3 days of cardio for 30 minutes.

If you have not started yet join this challenge today as the new week starts right now.

Only you can make the decision to change your body.

Are You Kirstie Alley or Valerie Bertinelli?

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Welcome, Low Carb Eating, Motivation with 287 words and 278 views

May 14, 2009

Kirstie Alley and Valerie Bertinelli have both been in the news lately for two very different reasons. Kirstie for her 85 pound weight regain and Valerie for her 40+ weight loss that she has maintained.

Now that the Summer Weight Loss Bootcamp is well under way, my question to you is who are you going to be: Kirstie or Valerie? Are you going to go through all of the hard work to lose weight only to regain it and a little bit more for good measure or are you going to lose weight one last time and maintain your new body for the rest of your life?

The choice is up to you. Only you can decide to make smart eating choices each day and if you slip make the decision to get right back on track with the next meal.

Being fat is almost like a life sentence since most people regain their weight within a year and within five years many are even fatter.

Congrats to Helen! The Winner of The Biggest Loser

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Welcome with 155 words and 144 views

May 13, 2009

Congratulations to Helen for winning The Biggest Loser last night. She looked great! A little on the too skinny side but better than over 100 pounds ago.

Did anyone else think that the show was way to long? I mean two hours was bad enough, but three hours was just a bit to ridiculous. I think there was at least an hours worth of commercials.

I always enjoy seeing how people transform when they lose weight as it is very motivating! Everyone looked great and Jerry losing 177 pounds was incredible. Although my husband and I thought he was 80 and were shocked when we learned he was in his early sixties.

Quick someone get Jerry a stick of butter, as I have heard that fat is part of looking young. Our bodies love fat! So eat up and forget about that low fat diet mentality.

BTW Today is Day 4 of the Summer Weight Loss Bootcamp Challenge!
