Before I started eating low carb I would look forward to the weekends. I would go to the grocery store and buy ice cream, pretzels and dip, cookies, cake or whatever else I was craving and eat all weekend.
I would justify eating this way by promising myself that I would start eating right on Monday morning. Of course it is so much easier to tell yourself this lie as you are eating pizza and cupcakes and are feeling sick from eating so much sugar and carbs.
Once that sick, bloated and full feeling went away so did my resolve and motivation to stop eating those things on Monday. I bargained more than 15 years of my life by doing things like this.
If you are planning a carb fest this weekend with the promise to get back on track Monday, STOP. Don't do it because those weeks will turn into months, those months into years. Start right now this minute, this second. A year from now you can either still be lying to yourself about starting to lose weight or you could be much thinner than you are now.
It's your choice. I choose to live and get healthy everyday.
I just read this article about how the down turn in the economy may make those that are cash strapped gain weight because people are going to eat more foods high in saturated fat and sugar. I agree if you eat saturated fat you will gain weight, if you combine it with lots of pasta, potatoes and rice.
If you follow the Standard American Diet (SAD) you will consume 300 or more grams of carbohydrates a day based on your caloric intake. Simply cutting the number of carbohydrates in half is enough to start you on the road to losing weight not gaining.

If I have to watch one more commercial about chocolate bunnies and Easter baskets I am going to scream. I don’t recall last Easter being quite so commercial regarding the promoting of candy, candy and still more candy.
Sure there was the usual assortment of sugar coated carbage in the stores, but at least a person wasn’t inundated with commercials every five minutes about how much more Easter candy you could buy at a certain big box store.
I used to use the holidays as an excuse to eat. This year I have decided to make the holiday more about Jesus Christ and less about those Cadbury crème eggs.

When I was in my teens and twenties it never occurred to me that being overweight or obese would ever impact my health. I felt pretty good physically in spite of the extra 30 - 100 pounds of fat that I was carrying. I would often repeat the mantra that I wanted to get thin for my health, but the truth was I wanted to be thin so I could look hot!

I hope that this blog will offer inspiration and encouragement to you as lose weight or maintain your weight. I woke up this morning at 200 pounds! It took 2 months of staying at 207 and nothing I did made the scale move. I didn't give up though. In fact I took a couple of weeks off here and there from even going on the scale. I think that persistence is the key and a whole lot of patience. Tonight is the biggest loser! So look for my recap and comments tomorrow morning. Based on the previews it looks like its going to be a good one to watch.
