Just One Problem Away From a Carb Blowout

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Low Carb Eating, Motivation with 203 words and 886 views

April 21, 2010

It's been two years since I started low carb and I am embarassed to admit that I still have not reached my goal weight. It just seems that I let life's inevitable stresses make me revert back to my old eating patterns. A one time cheat becomes weeks or months. Seriously it is harder to get back on track than to just sit with those feelings of wanting to scarf down all the carbs on a buffet table. This is what I want for the next 8 months left in 2010.

If dieting was easy no one would be fat and the diet industry would not introduce a new gimmick or product for quick, easy weight loss every five seconds. The secret to losing weight is perseverance. Only 6 Months Until the End of the Year

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Weightloss Motivation with 177 words and 2184 views

June 25, 2009

July 1st marks the start of the last 6 months of 2009. Since I like schedules and dates so much I thought this would be a good marker for anyone who has been struggling like I was in the month of June.

Lets start July focused on getting healthier for the last 6 months of the year rather than dwelling on any screw ups, cheats, etc we did for the first half of the year.

Let's face it the first half of the year has pretty much been less than stellar with bad news on the television, swine flu fears, etc. Maybe all of this negativity has caused you to just say the heck with it and start an all out binge fest.

It doesn't matter because that was then and this is now (a great movie from the 80's by the way). So if you have been looking for a reason to get back on your program here it is. For the next 6 months lets all work towards changing our lives. One pound of fat at a time.

PSST ... Sometimes The Scale Does Lie

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Motivation with 195 words and 551 views

June 2, 2009

I was flipping through the channels on the TV yesterday and caught the last minute or so of celebrity fit club. The host was commenting that "The Scale Doesn't Lie" or something to that effect. While most of us (including me) track our progress by the number on the scale. The truth is that sometimes your body is changing weight and losing fat even though the number on the scale stays the same.

This is true especially if you are doing any type of resistance training. Your body may be getting a little leaner and reshaping itself but the scale shows no loss even though your clothes may be bigger or you feel thinner.

I wish I was brave enough to throw the scale away, but I think that weekly weighing is a still important tool in tracking your overall progress. If you don't show a loss for 2-4 weeks or more (you decide on the time frame) it may be time to do some serious calorie counting or tweaking on your plan.

Perseverance is the key to success with any weight loss plan. Cheer your 1 pound or even 1/2 pound successes and don't minimize them.

Stress Is A Diet Killer - Don't Let It Be

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Motivation with 167 words and 685 views

June 1, 2009

Can you believe that it is June already? Personally I can't wait until the summer is over. I am just so tired of all this bad economic news and am praying that the fall will bring everyone a little relief and breathing room.

Sticking to a weight loss plan when you are worried about being able to pay your bills can be difficult but it is not impossible.

I am not using this economy as an excuse to pig out and neither should you. Yes I have a slip up every now and then but the secret is to get right back on the next meal. Believe me this is harder than it sounds. After all once you start eating all of those forbidden carbs the sugar beast wakes up.

It is almost like that little cute orange monster in those weight watchers commercials.

I think the key is to try to have more on plan days than off and hope that it all evens out.
