May 24, 2011 - Day 5
Memorial Day is this Monday and I am happy to report that Monday will start my New 30 Day Challenge. This will be my fourth month of clean low carb eating with no cheats! It's funny how turning forty can make you suddenly decide that the time to lose the weight is now, not in five or ten years.
Memorial Day and the Fourth of July are a lowcarbers dream holidays. BBQ, Coleslaw (without sugar), a huge salad with all the fixins, and anything else you can dream up. I don'e even care about the dessert part. Losing weight has been too uch of a challenge for me to even consider giving into the temptation.
I don't want to be fat and frumpy at forty. Instead I choose to be fit, fabulous and forty. I may not get there on my birthday but I will be a lot closer to that goal than if I cheated and ate every cupcake, slice of pizza, etc that call my name. And believe me they sometimes call me at least ten times a day.

Just a quick note to say Happy Memorial Day! I am playing hooky today and haven't been doing much.
We had a bird trying to build a nest on our front porch. It would not have been bad except for the fact that the bird decided it needed to take up all five feet of the eve on the porch to build her nest. There was mud everywhere. What a mess. So my husband made some cutouts of birds of prey and we hung them in the spot where she was building. We actually saw the bird trying to fight with and attack the paper cutouts. It was pretty funny.
Sunday started Week 3 of the Summer Weight Loss Boot Camp Challenge. I hope everyone is doing well today and having a great day spending time with friends, family or just doing nothing.
Here's to another great week of eating right and losing weight!
Saturday marked the end of Week Two of the Summer Weight Loss Bootcamp Challenge. This week I lost another pound. Thats one more pound of fat gone.
Sometimes when the weight loss doesn't go as fast as you want it to, you may be tempted to give up or give in to tempation. This is why I posted that I lost another pound of fat, rather than I only lost 1 pound.
Every pound of fat you lose will bring you closer to your goal. Sometimes it may not be as quickly as we want it, but over time those 1 pound losses will add up to some pretty big numbers.
Just keep on going no matter what the scale says. My clothes are baggier this week than last week. I can see more of my cheekbones and I have less back fat. I can actually feel my hip bones when I am standing up. These are great changes to focus on, instead of letting a number on the scale influence how you feel today.
Have a great Memorial Day tomorrow and make it low carb!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend everyone. Don't forget tomorrow is the 2nd weigh in in the Summer Weight Loss Bootcamp. I will post my results this weekend.
The holidays are always a difficult time for those of us who struggle with our weight, but don't let it be an excuse to fall off your plan and pig out.
This time last year I was only 1 month into my weight loss and now it has already been a year. Time flies. It's up to you whether you will be thinner next year, the same weight or fatter.
Memorial Day is a low carbers dream holiday. There are burgers to grill, deviled eggs, make your own coleslaw, grilled veggies and the beloved grilled ribeye steak.
If you must have desert make it a low carb treat. Have some fresh strawberries with heavy whipping cream (a little stevia can add a bit of sweetness).
