Hope Everyone is Having a Nice Weekend

August 13, 2011 Day 16

Trying to get some cleaning and organizing done this weekend. Wish me luck. I always put it off.

No weight loss this week but to put it in perspective I did reach onderland last week so technically I have only been stalled a week. Of course to me it feels like a lifetime.

I have heard that the mind body connection can be a powerful tool. Kinda of like when people have cancer and are told to imagine pac-man like eating all of the cancer cells in their body.

So I had a long talk with my fat today and told it that although it is comfortable taking up residence on my body I have decided that it is time to evict and it can either go quietly or be destroyed by a fat eating pac-man. Will it work? Maybe, maybe not. But it can't hurt.

Maybe People Should Not Eyeball Their Portions
October 10, 2010

In a world where portion size has gotten out of control. Perhaps it is a good idea to weigh and measure when you are trying to lose weight.

You may be shocked to learn that those restaurant portions are double and sometimes triple a normal serving size. If you have been eyeballing your meat servings you may want to consider investing in a food scale to see how much you are actually eating. The results may surprise you and make that 10 inch dinner plate look rather sparse. Seriously after weighing six ounces of meat the portion looks laughable.

Losing weight is hard enough as it is but so is thinking you are eating all the right things while the scale refuses to budge. If you have been stuck at a plateau or worse keep gaining weight, you may want to consider weighing and measuring your food.

If dieting was easy no one would be fat and the diet industry would not introduce a new gimmick or product for quick, easy weight loss every five seconds. The secret to losing weight is perseverance. Without this you will keep gaining and re-losing the same 20, 50, 100 or more pounds over and over.

It's Good to Be Low Carb

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Low Carb Eating, Motivation with 283 words and 386 views

May 12, 2009

Today is Day 3 of the Summer Weight Loss Bootcamp Challenge. I hope things are going well for everyone. I am finally back in the groove again mentally! I did two vacations 5 weeks apart to visit family and this really took a toll on my sleeping, exercising and eating. Although I did stay pretty true to my low carb diet on both trips and did not gain weight nor lose any both times.

Now that the vacations are over I have the rest next 30 days to kick start my weight loss and the rest of the summer to keep up the intensity and motivation.

It was a good feeling though on our 10 and 11 hour car trips respectively that I was able to not have any leg or back pain from sitting in the car.

A hundred pounds ago I couldn't go more than 2 hours in a car without having horrible leg and back pain. I am guessing it was from all the extra weight.

I will never understand how people that are 100 or more pounds overweight could say they are happy and comfortable being that heavy.

The second step for low carb is to eliminate all sweets and grains from your diet. You will receive your primary source of carbs from vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, romaine lettuce, cucumbers, etc. Fat, Protein and Veggies are essential to the low carb lifestyle.

The Atkins diet subscribes to the under 20 carbs for two weeks and than climbing the carb later after that for ongoing weight loss. If you want to do Atkins I suggest you buy the book and read it. The 2002 version and earlier are the best ones to buy. While eating low carb you should not be afriad to eat fat. Fattier cuts of meat, leave the skin on the chicken, add butter or olive oil to your veggies, etc.

Try to stay away from as many pre-packaged foods as possible such as salad dressings since they have soybean oil. Here are some foods to avoid: All vegetable oils (even canola oil or as I like to call it crapola oil), margarine and soy.
