Loose Skin After Weight Loss? Does it Have to Be This Way?

Since I will have lost over 200 pounds once I am done with my weight loss, the thought of having a bunch of loose skin has crossed my mind a time or two.

There seems to be a consensus on the internet that if you have a large amount of weight to lose than it is inevitable that there will be loose skin. How much it seems depends on the person and their genetics.

There are horror stories online about people who have lost 100 pounds or more and had folds of skin hanging from their arms, thighs and stomachs.

I wonder if losing actual fat and retaining your lean muscle mass can prevent loose skin. I am doing resistance training and as I lose weight my arms have gotten smaller (less hanging fat) but with 90 pounds or so to go there is still plenty of fat on my body.

I guess only time will tell. I may take pictures of my hanging fat so I have something to compare it to when I reach my goal. If you have lost a large amount of weight let me know your results with loose skin.

Beware of Toxic Fat - A Side Effect of Weight Loss

Did you know that all those extra pounds you are carrying are not only uncomfortable, but they also store and hold toxins? If this isn't bad enough as you lose weight these toxins are released back into your body. This can cause acne and even stall your weight loss as all of these toxins can wreak havoc on yout thyriod.

Perhaps this is another good reason why we should lose weight slowly and not yo-yo back and forth on the scale.

I have not found anything tangible about how one can get rid of these toxins and since I do not recommend detox or colon cleansing I can offer this as a solution: drink enough water, lose weight slowly, in the morning have a cup of hot water with a tbsp of lemon juice, exercise to help sweat out some of those toxins and get plenty of sleep.

Exercise Sucks! But Do It Anyway

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Welcome, Motivation, Exercise with 129 words and 404 views

I loathe exercise and all the sweating and heavy breathing that goes along with it, but I do love the results.

You don't have to workout for 5-6 hours a day like they do on The Biggest Loser to see results. Just 7-30 minutes a day is plenty.

3 Days a week of cardio, 3 days of resistance/weight training and 1 day of rest.

Here's a tip that works when you find yourself making excuses about exercise: Just start out with the 7 minute minimum and every minute you go past that up until 30 will be an added bonus. Trust me it worls because you know you can stop anytime after the 7 minutes are up.

You'll feel better and your heart and muscles will thank you. Plus you will increase your stamina and endurance.

Step One To Losing Weight

I'm not going to bore you by talking about commitment and motivation, because lets face it, once you decide once and for all that you are tired of your thighs rubbing together and giving you a skin burn nothing will stop you. Right?

Wrong. The truth is that no matter how much we want to lose weight the motivation and commitment will leave most of us the minute we smell a fresh baked cookie or a plate of french fries. This has happened to me more than once and believe me after you have eaten whatever junk you so desperately wanted you will console your self with this lie: I can start tomorrow. Sure this is easier to say once your stomach is stuffed and you have satisfied that sugar/carb craving.

Believe me that no matter how bad you feel after you've pigged out it will still be hard to start this diet or any diet. Your body will crave it; your mind will make bargains and deals. What you have to do is find that resolve deep inside yourself to ignore it. If you do, trust me, the feeling will pass.

Here is what I want you to do.

Fat People Can't Jump

Last night on The Biggest Loser Laura was told that she had a stress fracture in her hip. The doctor told her that it was from the level of exercise that she was doing, she was training like an Olympic athlete instead of the out of shape overweight girl that she is.

While I like the weight loss results on this show I always cringe when I see the workouts that Bob and Jillian put these contestants through. It seems that the network executives at NBC have decided that just watching fat people sweat and gasp for breath is not interesting enough. Now we have to have them carry each other on their backs, lift 4-5 times their body weight, jump on and off a step stool and more.
