New Exercise Challenge for This Week

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Exercise with 238 words and 492 views

June 13, 2011 Day 16

I admit I have been a bit lax in regards to exercising the past couple of weeks and as a result my weight has not budged. This week I am starting a new exercise challenge which I am hoping will restart my weight loss!

I will be doing body weight and weight training 3 days a week! Exercise bike the rest of the week for 30 minutes per day. And if I can convince my hubby walking at least one day a week (we have some killer hills where we live).

I don't know if this will help as many low carbers believe that exercise should be avoided at all costs...

Donkey Kicks Really Work the Glutes

May 26, 2011 - Day 3

I know most of you have probably heard that spot reducing does not work and that fat loss is what reshapes your body. I disagree. I believe that weight bearing exercises such as push ups, donkey kicks, squats, etc can do wonders for your body shape; even when you are not losing actual fat.

Loose Skin After Weight Loss? Does it Have to Be This Way?

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Welcome, My Weight Loss, Exercise with 193 words and 1762 views

Since I will have lost over 200 pounds once I am done with my weight loss, the thought of having a bunch of loose skin has crossed my mind a time or two.

There seems to be a consensus on the internet that if you have a large amount of weight to lose than it is inevitable that there will be loose skin. How much it seems depends on the person and their genetics.

There are horror stories online about people who have lost 100 pounds or more and had folds of skin hanging from their arms, thighs and stomachs.

I wonder if losing actual fat and retaining your lean muscle mass can prevent loose skin. I am doing resistance training and as I lose weight my arms have gotten smaller (less hanging fat) but with 90 pounds or so to go there is still plenty of fat on my body.

I guess only time will tell. I may take pictures of my hanging fat so I have something to compare it to when I reach my goal. If you have lost a large amount of weight let me know your results with loose skin.

Beware of Toxic Fat - A Side Effect of Weight Loss

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Exercise, Health with 149 words and 1156 views

Did you know that all those extra pounds you are carrying are not only uncomfortable, but they also store and hold toxins? If this isn't bad enough as you lose weight these toxins are released back into your body. This can cause acne and even stall your weight loss as all of these toxins can wreak havoc on yout thyriod.

Perhaps this is another good reason why we should lose weight slowly and not yo-yo back and forth on the scale.

I have not found anything tangible about how one can get rid of these toxins and since I do not recommend detox or colon cleansing I can offer this as a solution: drink enough water, lose weight slowly, in the morning have a cup of hot water with a tbsp of lemon juice, exercise to help sweat out some of those toxins and get plenty of sleep.

Exercise Sucks! But Do It Anyway

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Welcome, Motivation, Exercise with 131 words and 778 views

I loathe exercise and all the sweating and heavy breathing that goes along with it, but I do love the results.

You don't have to workout for 5-6 hours a day like they do on The Biggest Loser to see results. Just 7-30 minutes a day is plenty.

3 Days a week of cardio, 3 days of resistance/weight training and 1 day of rest.

Here's a tip that works when you find yourself making excuses about exercise: Just start out with the 7 minute minimum and every minute you go past that up until 30 will be an added bonus. Trust me it worls because you know you can stop anytime after the 7 minutes are up.

You'll feel better and your heart and muscles will thank you. Plus you will increase your stamina and endurance.
