My Day Out At The Movies

July 11, 2011 - Day 18

It was a cool and crisp 98 degrees yesterday and once the temperature goes above 90 degrees the inside of the house gets unbearably hot, even with the AC turned down to 69 degrees.

So to beat the heat hubby and I decided to go to the movies and dinner after.

At my former weight of 307 pounds fitting into the seats at the movies required a lot of squeezing into the seat and trying to ignore the pain in my sides at the arm rests dug into my almost 60 inch wide hips.

But now I am able to sit comfortably in my seat and neither side of the seat touched my hips! How awesome is that.

Even using the rest room is more comfortable. When those doors swing in it is very difficult when you are obese to squeeze back out. But now I am able to open the bathroom stall door like a normal person.

And even better at the restaurant my boobs no longer rest on the table because they are like two giant swollen hot air balloons. Instead I had room between me and the table and felt cheekily thin!

In case you are wondering at the movies I did not have any popcorn. Just one square of dark chocolate and that was enough for me. For dinner I had a 7 ounce petite sirloin steak topped with butter (I asked for it without seasonings but could not tell if they complied or not), grilled zucchini and sweet potato fries (a little more carbs and protein in a meal then usual but I am OK with it).

The meal was good but I could tell the veggies had vegetable oil on them instead of olive oil and the butter I was told it was real butter but it did not taste as good as my Kerry Gold butter at home.

Weight this morning was the same no changes there!

If dieting was easy no one would be fat and the diet industry would not introduce a new gimmick or product for quick, easy weight loss every five seconds. The secret to losing weight is perseverance. Without this you will keep gaining and re-losing the same 20, 50, 100 or more pounds over and over.

Hey Rachel Ray Don't Be Afraid Of Saturated Fat

Author: LowCarbDiva Email  | Filed under: Welcome, Health with 258 words and 2087 views

May 21, 2009

I was watching Rachel Ray this morning as I ate a breakfast consisting of bacon cooked in coconut oil, an egg fried in the bacon fat and 1/4 cup of blueberries. On TV was the guy who wrote a book titled: Eat This Not That. He was talking about the high saturated fat content in fried chicken fingers and Rachel was completely horrified at the saturated fat content in most of the fried foods. I found it interesting that no mention was made about the high carbohydrate content in all of the foods that were promoted. Mainly Rachel focused on calories and saturated fat as being the big no no's.

Saturated fat contrary to mainstream belief is not going to kill you. In fact it is the standard high carbohydrate diet that most of us eat that is more dangerous to your heart and your health, then a tablespoon of butter on your vegetables. A diet high in carbs spikes your blood sugar and insulin. These insulin spikes after you consume lets say a breakfast of a bowl of cereal, milk and orange juice is why you are hungry shortly after eating.

It is not cholesterol or fat, but rather high blood sugar that is one of the biggest causes of heart disease and heart attacks. See the links below for a great article regarding the dangers of sugar and carbs and the benefits of fat in your diet.
