May 10, 2009
Today is the first day of the LowCarbDiva Summer Weight Loss Bootcamp Challenge. If you are struggling in your weight loss, just starting out or need a recharge. This bootcamp is for you.
The first bootcamp will run from May 10, 2009 - June 6, 2009. Below are the Summer Weight Loss Bootcamp Rules:
1. Weigh yourself today - get your starting weight and write it down.
I know a lot of people advise that you should not get on the scale and just go by your measurements and how your clothes feel, but at LowCarbDiva we are going to do things a little bit different. We are going to weigh once a week and only once a week. If the number on the scale doesn't change we are not going to get depressed and scarf down a box of Little Debbie Snack cakes. Instead we are going to keep plugging away.
2. Take your measurements and write them down. Always take the measurement on the largest most hanging area of fat on your body (this is for inner thighs and arms). Waist measurements should be easy. For men you measure at the point around your belly button.
3. Make sure you are eating enough protein. The formula I use is your current weight (in pounds) divided by 2.2. You can usally go +/- 10% from this number.
4. Decide on what plan you are going to do and follow it. Don't switch plans in the middle of boot camp because you are not seeing results as quickly as you want.
5. This is for anyone who is having trouble losing weight - you must create a calorie deficit no matter what plan you are on. So if you are stalled you should enter your calories into fitday or another food diary type program to find out if eating too much is the cause of your stall.
6. No cheats allowed. I don't care if it is your birthday next week. That piece of cake is not going to make you feel better the next day. Besides this is only for 30 days after that it will be your choice if you want to continue.
7. Exercise - I recommend 3 days of week of resistance training and 3 days of cardio for 30 minutes (work up to it if you have to).
8. Prepare as many whole, non processed fresh meals as possible. Cooking from scratch can be a pain, but at least you will know what you are eating. A crockpot can be a great tool! Also pre-cooking food for the week can hekp you stick to your new way of eating.
9. Get rid of all diet sodas and crystal light. Drink only water!
10. Never forget that the only time you will fail is when you stop trying.
