Are you still waiting to start losing weight? Are you hoping for a lightening bolt of inspiration and motivation to shoot out of the sky and make you suddenly stop eating unhealthy foods and exercise more? If you are, then snap out of it. The truth is that when you have more than 10 pounds to lose motivation and inspiration is a fleeting thing.
Perseverance and discipline are the keys when you have a lot of weight to lose. Imagine telling someone who has 200 pounds to lose that it is going to take two years. Most people would give up right then and there. Now tell these same people that they have a choice either be thinner this time next year or fatter. Which option sounds more appealing? While you may not reach your goal in a year, two or three you will be making progress and inroads towards that goal.
Let's face it losing weight is no fun. It takes work and sometimes amazing feats of willpower and self control to hold yourself back from that bag of chips or box of cookies. Imagine living on butterless vegetables, skinless chicken breast, beans, brown rice and whole wheat pasta. Why the heck wouldn't you want those cookies or chips? Your body wants flavor and fat and it will try and get it one way or another.
I am going to tell you a secret about my weight loss.

I don't spend every waking minute consumed with thoughts of food. I enjoy chicken with the flavor on (read this as skin), vegetables in butter, full fat cheese, dark chocolate and juicy steaks. Once I reach my goal I will still be able to eat these same foods and maintain my weight for the rest of my life.
Losing weight doesn't have to be an exercise in seeing how miserable you can make yourself (and others around you). It can be fun, rewarding and exciting as you learn to eat real food that tastes good. Tune in tomorrow for more information about eating low carb and living the low carb lifestyle.
